A No Plans Kind of Weekend

For once in my life, I don't have a lot to talk about.

We didn't have plans for this weekend. Sometimes, those are the best kind of weekends.

On Friday, Scott was anxious to come home to the arrival of two new books. He got a glass of wine, started reading, and fell sound asleep at 8:11PM. Guess that is why he doesn't read much.

Saturday, I went to a bridal shower for my girlfriends, sister-in-law. The party was darling and the mommy-to-be got a lot of sweet things for her baby boy.

Andrea's sweet babygirl - Maddie

We tell Maddie I am her Auntie. She calls me Ky-Ky. She said "Thank You" (in some form of baby talk) the other day when I gave her cheerios. Scott was impressed. She has better manners than he does. She fills my desire for babies and makes me smile every time I am around her.

Following the shower, Scott planned a fun afternoon. Said he was taking me to a zoo. Not a zoo with real animals, but a zoo with art-shaped-animals. It was called Swetsville. I think we both went with higher expectations. It was basically a junk yard, with animals and "things" built out of rusted metal. It took talent (and maybe sweat, hence the name) to build them, so we stayed and walked around. We stayed for approximately seven minutes. Maybe nine.

Sunday was just as exciting as Saturday. The sun was shining. We could literally taste Spring in the air. It was too nice to be inside, so we threw on some sneakers and took a nice long walk to the local reservoir. The mountains looked beautiful. The geese were flocking to the chilled water. The breeze was just enough to cool our sun-kissed faces. Sounds perfect, right? Then Monty threw up three times.

Before the sickness set in.

We will make up for our no-plans-weekend, with a busy week. My girlfriend, Jo and I will continue our "Monday Bachelor Date Night" in front of the TV, watching all the girls gang up on Courtney. I must say, I have been looking forward to this episode all season. We also have a family dinner planned this week at a Hibachi Grille. I love watching people prepare my food. I wish I could say it gives me inspiration to do more in the kitchen -- but it doesn't! We plan to end the week, with a punk-rock date night in Denver to see "American Idiot" on Broadway. Did you really think Scott would miss the opportunity to sing Basketcase with a Broadway cast and a theater full of Green Day Fans. Absolutely not.

More to come. Stay tuned and until next time smile. xo.
